Dijon 24 Hour Comics Day

Hallo--

First off, I'd like to beg everyone's forgiveness for writing this in English. I can only hope that some kind hearted soul takes pity on me and puts it into German. That being said, and without further ado...

I'm putting together a 24 Hour Comics Day in Dijon, FRANCE.

What is a 24 Hour Comics Day, you ask? Why, simplicity itself, my dear Watson. A 24HCD is a personal challenge for an artist to make a 24-page comic book in 24 hours. It's completely non-comptetive. There no winners, no losers, no prizes, and no medals.

The challenge is hardly limited to professionals. We seek beginners and pros alike. The only goal is to express yourself as you can.

The 24HCD will be held April 23-24 all over the world, but this one is the first and only in Europe.

We're looking for artists who would like to take on this original challenge. We also need people who would like to help promote the 24HCD. How to do this? Easy: if you think it's a good idea, talk about it! Seeing as it's the first one in Europe, we could easily have tens or even a hundred artists. We've already got a several foreign artists. With word of mouth, the sky's the limit!

Dijon isn't really far from Germany, 2h00 from Freidburg, and 4h30 from Ulm (in an Audi TT), so distance is not an excuse!

I am able to draw and ink 240 pages in one day and blind and with broken hands and without food... of course in a good quality

On the other hand, vieldanken for the display of support! But even if you're not in Europe, there'll be plenty of other places in the world where you can do it.

but just if I am in the united states of america or in korea or somewhere where I can find a computer with a scanner and an internet connection but my problem is that I wanted to hunt the chupacabra in southamerica in april and so it seems that I will be busy in april...

Bonjours Ken, cela me fait plaisir de vous voir a Comicforum!

Ich habe Ken das CF empfohlen um Kontakte zu knüpfen für diejenigen die Intersse hätten da mitzureisen. Es ist eine lustige und nette Aktion, die an einem einzigen Tag welweit stattfinden wird. Persönlich werde ich versuchen da teilzunehmen, jedoch unter der Flagge "Rumäniens", mit den jungen Künstler die ich im rumänischen Forum unterstütze, meine kleine Entwicklungshilfe

Wie wär's mal wieder mit einem 24-Stunden-Comic-Event wie im August 2001 und 2002? Für alle, die gerne mitmachen würden, aber es nicht nach Dijon schaffen? Der 23. April würde sich da doch geradezu anbieten.

@px: fände ich interessant. Nach Dijon werde ich nämlich ziemlich sicher nicht fahren, finde die Idee einer solchen Veranstaltung aber schon interessant, wenn sie nicht allzu weit weg wäre. Würdest du so was organisieren? Oder sprichst du von einem CF-orientierten online-Ding?

Ich fände das auch lustig. Wär vor Ort ist, vor Ort (in seiner Hometown-Community oder wo auch immer), und alle anderen virtuell. Dann gäbe es endlich mal COMICS zu gucken hier.

Die "virtuelle" Lösung benötigt (außer der individuellen Urlaubs- und Vorratsplanung) ja keine besondere Organisation, da ist die Hemmschwelle am niedrigsten. Man muß nur mitmachen wollen. Im August 2001 hatten zunächst viele Interesse, aber nur wenige zogen es tatsächlich durch.
Ein Treffen wäre natürlich eine feine Sache, aber die Ablenkung ist auch größer.
Die größte Herausforderung ist wohl, den Comic ohne ausgearbeitetes Konzept zu beginnen.

also wenn es mit Treffen verbunden wäre würde mich das eher anspornen als wenn ich zu Hause rumsitze. Wenn das ganze in einer Gruppe gemacht wird ist der Druck einfach da.Hört sich jedenfalls lustig an.

da ich in meiner forumsabstinenz nicht untätig war, weiss ich ja jetzt was auf mich zukommt, hab selber für mich mal versucht möglichst viel an einem tag zu schaffen. bin bis seite 12 gekommen also die hälfte.

Eric-dee, you're going to have to keep me abreast of what's going on in this forum. My German is worse than even my Romanian.

ADrian: Where are you from? Maybe you could be able to carpool with someone else?

Mephisto: You're absolutely correct. This isn't the first time someone has done a 24 Hour Comic in Europe, it's just the first time that it's been organized on a (somewhat) large scale. It's the same principle as a marathon. Sure, you can run 50+km any day of the week, but you're a lot more likely to finish it when there are thousands of others running at the same time, encouraging, pushing, supporting, etc...

That's my job. To encourage you to come. To support you when you're here. To push you to the finish line. I provide food, space, chairs, etc, and you provide the art. Deal?

Thanks for all the support, everyone, and I hope to see some of you there! I just got official confirmation for the setting, so everything's right on track. All we're missing now are the artists...

P.S.: This is the first and only google link to the Dijon 24 Hour Comics Day. Thus I'm going to link to it again. I can't really figure out why google never spiders any of my websites and it really gets on my nerves. It's been months, and there are a hundred links to my 24HCD, but not a single link to it from google. Anyone know anyway to get google to check out a website?
